Vision
The Blue Mountains region is a true representation of the rich and diverse culture of Australian and the world in general. The festival engages with: the greater community and businesses, local, state and federal government bodies, Non Government Organisations, indigenous and other cultures.
We support and facilitate the development of Blue Mountains as a centre of culture and creativity for people of all ages and abilities. The festival has a strong commitment to promote and collaborate with educational institutions, schools, volunteers, local producers and the natural/built environment.
The Footbeat Festival framework comprises four elements, some of which are applicable locally, nationally and globally:
Education – Provide education sessions, workshops, fora, an Hypothetical, storytelling, exhibitions/displays, schools programs, sustainability, commerce, work experience, natural/built environment, TAFE Open Day, exhibitions of student curriculum material.
Art - Demonstrate and present heritage and contemporary performing arts, literary and fine arts, visual arts, multimedia and film.
World Music - Celebrate World Music performed by local, national and international artists.
Environment - Showcase the World Heritage listed natural beauty that surrounds us and other communities; explore how we live with and relate to these sites.
This year is particularly significant because it is the 10th Anniversary of the Blue Mountains being listed on the World Heritage register. It is also the 5th year of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainability, bringing global focus to the process of us becoming sustainable. As a further sense of celebration, this year is designated by the UN as the International Year of Biodiversity.
What great reasons to gather and have fun, explore, experience, be informed and celebrate our rich World Heritage!
