48 Hour Film Project

48 Hour Film Project
The oldest and largest timed film competition in the world – 80 plus cities participating.

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours.
On Friday night, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at a local theatre, usually in the next week.

Our Mission

The 48 Hour Film Project's mission is to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakers—emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on "doing" instead of "talking."

Sacred Earth Spectacular

“An Adventure in Healing. A Celebration of Life.”

25th October 2009 – Main marquee

One of the largest pieces of theatre ever created and presented in the Blue Mountains, the Sacred Earth Spectacular is a free family show that comes as the finale to this year’s Footbeat Festival. The Footbeat Festival’s motto is “our sustainable footprint” and the show sets out to illuminate the deeper connection that exists between ourselves and Mother Earth.
In trying to enter the spirit of connectedness we invited a diverse genre of performers to collaborate and share. To this end, the Sacred Earth Spectacular highlights the abundance of creativity, talent and passion that exist in the Blue Mountains. Musicians (the Sacred Earth Posse, the Academy Singers, Mocca string trio) join the actors (the Theatre of Living Light), dancers (Hands, Heart & Feet, Ghawazi Caravan) circus (Candy Stripe Circus, Captain Finhead) and performance art (Illuminart). The invitation to join in this event is extended to the community as well, so dance students of Hands, Heart & Feet will perform as well as anyone reading this who would like to shine their own light by bringing a lantern and joining the parade that winds its way on to the stage to signal the end of the play. (8.15pm)

There would be few theatre pieces in the world as beautiful, epic and touching as the Sacred Earth Spectacular. The performance seeks out what is usually hidden and unfathomable and offers a place to draw out the mystery through a story told in dance, supported by live music and breathtaking artistic routines. Our bodies are woven by the fabric of the elements, our psyches are built upon archetypes, around us forces unseen and beneficent fly to our aid. In personal relationships there is always positive potential, gestures of reconciliation, the shattering new birth of forgiveness. The Sacred Earth Spectacular plays out the healing of our wound of separation from each other, ourselves, the earth and the divine in an uplifting spectacle of ritual performance theatre. Actress Naree Shields remarks“it’s great to be involved in a show presented on such an epic scale. The story is about the sacredness of life and is a celebration of the Earth and the creative heritage of the Blue Mountains”. Come and immerse yourself in the abundant grandeur of the Sacred Earth Spectacular!

Afterwards there will be a chance to celebrate and dance with a free concert provided by Hands, Heart @ Feet.
